Are virtual servers better than dedicated servers?

The short answer: no.

No matter what, dedicated hardware resources always lead to better performance.

Basically, a virtual server is a big dedicated server that was split up in to a few little virtual servers.  Owning a big dedicated server is obviously better, but more pricey.

Despite this fact, keep in mind that the master hardware running your virtual server is enterprise class and as a result, will be fast and powerful.
